November 2000
More work on the other car in the evenings (and most of the weekends), so no progress on the yellow peril...
At long last, the thing runs again, and I can get back to the Six. (Wed) Spent most of an evening tidying up the garage, putting tools back where they should be after all the other work and generally finding the Tiger under the dust and piles of bits. Finished drilling all the holes for the front brake lines. Unfortunately, got one in the wrong place, so I've got an extra hole in the drivers footwell panel which needs filling and covering. Then it'll be on with the brake lines (which are already shaped and ready). I'll hopefully get round to fixing the tub on some more this week.
Well, no more fixing of tub, but I've filled the hole and sprayed it over, fixed the front brake lines
on (at 3.30am on Sunday morning - couldn't sleep - my neighbours probably couldn't either.... ;-) and
fitted all of the rear brakes. I now remember why I hated drum brakes so much (been a while since I had
any to contend with). All those s*dding springs, levers, cables and "automatic" adjusters.... Thanks to
Sue, I got another outer for the centre handbrake cable, so that went on, along with the new hefty cable
clamps around the balance bar and lo-and-behold, the handbrake works! Well, could be better, but the
"automatic" adjusters need some adjustment and the drums are a little rusty - nothing that some bedding
in won't cure. All the shock absorbers are set to fairly good initial positions, based on Neil's
experiences, and the collars are locked in place (using his c-spanner).
