Delivery

Tiger at Thorney Toll Perhaps delivery is the wrong word. Ah, collection, that's it. Hired a nice big Mercedes Luton with a longer box than most, so that the chassis could lay flat. We set off from Chichester around 9:30am on Saturday 6th May 2000, and 160 miles and three ½ hours later we arrived at Thorney Toll.

Some of the kit The garage has the feeling of a local garage ("This is a local garage for local people, there's nothing for you here..." - oops, no sorry, friendly local garage ;^) ) Jim was working on the new R6, inbetween taking prospective buyers out in the Super Six built for Stoneleigh. Paul was around, starting to put the ally panels on a Super Six in the workshop, and being generally helpful. Neil Jameson was picking up his Storm kit, including the delightfully ready-painted engine! And Jonathon West (brother of Nigel) was in to pick up an axle for his long-awaited Six. Plus plenty of other people were running around collecting bits and pieces. I don't know how Sue keeps track of it all!

Sue took me through the contents of the kit, along with giving hints on the best way of doing things (including some demonstrations from Paul - Cheers!) The seats, weather gear and carpet set were immaculate! Really well put together. After going through the inventory, it was all loaded on the van and off we went. Getting home took longer - a little over 4 hours (slowing down for bends, making frequent stops to be sure things hadn't shifted in the back and getting worried when the van completely lost all drive a couple of times... 8-O )

The kit in the garage

The kit in the bedroom Much fun and games were had when we got home and found noone around to help me unload things. So the engineering cunning was used to extract the chassis from the van into the garage single-handed. And without damaging the powder coating.... After that, the next problem was getting all the fibreglass panels into a spare bedroom so they weren't damaged. Well, the only problem was with the main body tub and the 90 degree kink in the stairs. But we got there, as you can see. Doesn't the kit match the room beautifully?

Still, at least it was a nice sunny day....

Halfway home - exhausted...
