Post SVA - Week 1

Drove car to MOT, passed straight off (as expected). They used a decelerometer instead of the brake rollers to avoid damage to the LSD (first time I've heard of an MOT centre doing this - wish I'd known for previous LSD-equipped cars of mine!!!). Drove on down to a local rolling road for an initial tune (just so I can run it in properly). Max revs used were 4k, enough to get it a bit smoother and remove the popping caused by leanness at idle and high revs. Idles went up from 50 to 58 and mains from 150 to 160. It's much better now, but feels like a bit of a misfire around 3k revs.

All the documents were dropped off at the local DVLA office, and the registration inspection booked for Thu next week.

Post SVA - Week 2

Starting removing the bits which were put on specifically for the SVA, such as indicator extensions and foam trim around the headlamp brackets.

Thu 10am - inspection at the DVLA office. Checked engine and VIN numbers (recommended getting the VIN number stamped into the chassis for security). Checked components looked like what I'd described. Said everything was in order and went off to do the paperwork. Picked up an envelope with the tax disk etc in at 3:30pm. SHE'S ON THE ROAD!!!! KCR 249L......

Ordered a pair of K&N air filters for the car. I called K&N to get the correct part number first, as I needed some filters without the holes drilled for fitting to the carbs. This is 'cos the chassis rail is so close to the trumpets I wouldn't be able to fit them on if I used the standard centrally drilled holes. In case anyone's interested, the part number for an 83mm deep filter to suit Dell'Orto DHLA 40/45 or Weber DCOE 40/45 is 56-9244, and they're about 47 quid each inc VAT.

Also ordered a pair of Luke 4-point harnesses. FIA-approved, 3" shoulder straps, 2" lap strap and aircraft-style release buckle. Got them direct from Luke, good, friendly service and advice, everything made to order, fitting kits included and a top price compared with Demon Tweeks etc.
